5th Grade Biomes

The fifth grade science classes created miniature biomes with soil, moisture, plants and animals that are consistent within that ecosystem. “What good is the warmth of summer without the chill of winter.”

John Steinbeck

Happy New Year and welcome back to all our families. I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a restful holiday break. I look forward to getting back to our regular school routine and starting the New Year off with a bang. As we approach the end of the 1st semester I want to say thank you for all you do for your child’s education. As a faculty and staff we appreciate that the children are prepared and ready to learn each day.

Prayer: A new year brings a new resolve for improving our lives and others. One way in which we can do this is to pray together as a family. Prayer is the foundation of the Catholic home and is one of the best ways to help your family thrive. We are living in a time which is full of trials and obstacles that can sometimes lead us to question faith.

When you pray together as a family, each member learns what it means to be intimate with God. It is a time they are communicating with God and it should be taken very seriously. While there is deep theological meaning in prayer, it doesn’t have to be complicated and difficult. It’s something anyone can do anywhere at any time. Teach your children that prayers do not have to be long and formal. When you are together, offer up short, spontaneous, conversational prayers. Make generous use of words like please and thank you. Do everything you can to help your children love Jesus. Cultivate an awareness of God’s presence in the details of everyday life.
